Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a new stay?

Tap the "+" button in the Dashboard, Calendar, or Journey view, pick a country, enter the dates, and save.

Is Nomad Days free, and what does Pro add?

Yes — the free version lets you log up to 3 stays and use the Dashboard, Calendar, and Journey. Nomad Days Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks unlimited stays, automatic country tracking, data export, and the Insights highlights.

Can I export my data?

Yes, with Nomad Days Pro. Open the Insights tab and tap the share icon in the top-right corner — you can export as PDF, CSV, or Excel, either as a summary or as a detailed list of every stay.

Can I back up my data or move it to a new phone?

Yes. Go to Settings → Export Backup to save a complete backup file containing all your stays, notes, and attachments. On a new device — or after reinstalling — use Settings → Restore from Backup to bring everything back. Keep that file somewhere safe, such as Files or iCloud Drive.

Is my data synced to the cloud?

No, all data is stored locally on your device. We don't have access to your data and it's never uploaded to any server.

What happens if I delete the app?

All your data is permanently deleted — nothing is stored in the cloud. Before uninstalling or switching phones, create a backup via Settings → Export Backup so you can restore everything later. (A PDF or CSV export is a report, not a restorable backup.)

How does auto-tracking work?

With Nomad Days Pro and location access, the app detects when you cross into a new country and logs the stay for you. For this to work in the background — while the app is closed — iOS needs location permission set to "Always" (you can set this under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Nomad Days). To save battery, iOS only checks your location now and then, so a border crossing can take a little while to appear. Opening the app once always brings everything up to date.

Why does my widget show an old day count?

Home Screen widgets are refreshed by iOS on its own schedule, not in real time. The day count for an ongoing stay keeps counting up on its own each day, but right after a change — like crossing a border — the widget can briefly lag behind. Opening the app once refreshes the widget immediately.
